Wilson E. Munn

Wilson E. "Pudge" Munn, Age 83, September 28, 2014, a longtime resident of Livonia. Beloved husband of Maybelle for 61 years. Loving father of Teresa (Robert) Moore, Michael (Maria), John (Jill), Matthew (Jill), and Anne Marie. Dear grandfather of Rebecca (Timothy) Maly, David (Shelley) Moore, Sandra, Michael (Michelle) Munn Jr., Shannon (Jay) Granger, James (Elayna) Moore, Heather, Luca, and Paolo. Great-grandfather of Miranda, Lauren, Nikolaus, Kiran, Dillon, Henry, and Felix. Wilson is also survived by his sister Betty Jane McHale and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Mary Kent, Irene Galloway, Eugene George Munn, Wilma Walters, Ida Maxine Cook and Wendell Munn. Wilson attended Western Michigan University graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Masters of Arts. Wilson began his teaching career at Hopkins H.S. and coached from 1958-60. He taught Mathematics and coached at Plainwell H.S. from 1961-63. Wilson received a National Science Scholarship Grant in 1963 moving his family to Detroit to attend the University of Detroit. In 1964 Wilson joined the staff of Schoolcraft College teaching Mathematics and coaching the Basketball team. Wilson continued teaching for 31 years at the college until his retirement in 1995. Schoolcraft College awarded Wilson Munn the status of Professor Emeritus in 2002 serving the longest as the Head of the Mathematics Department. Wilson was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #345 in Redford, Michigan. In 2004, Wilson was inducted into the Plainwell H.S. Hall of Fame, his Alma Mater, where he was recognized for Lettering in 5 sports: Football, Basketball, Track, Wrestling and Baseball by his Former Coach, Mentor and Friend, Jack Streidle. Wilson enjoyed sports, fishing, reading, cooking and loved to travel. Family was everything to Wilson. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 4, at 1:00 at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd, Livonia. Visitation Friday from 6-9 pm and Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 1 PM.
