William Stanley Bonsky, born on October 25, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, in Livonia, Michigan. He leaves behind a legacy filled with warmth, laughter, and an indelible mark on all who had the joy of knowing him.
William was a man who wore many hats throughout his life, lovingly remembered as a retired Xerox employee, having dedicated much of his career there before retiring in 2015. Beyond his professional accomplishments, William was renowned for his unique sense of humor — a master of terrible dad jokes that brought smiles and chuckles to family and friends alike. His wit was a gift, lightening any room and lifting spirits even in challenging times.
Those who knew William will fondly recall his passions and quirks: a devoted lover of drums, proudly serving as the drummer for the praise band at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, where he was an active member. His love for simple pleasures was evident in his preference for plain foods like cheeseburgers with only cheese, always accompanied by his favorite drink, Diet Coke. He delighted in the Detroit Tigers baseball team, embraced the sounds of KISS and Rush, and had a famous sweet tooth for M&Ms and Hershey Kisses. William also had a distinctive habit of gifting his “broken junk,” a quirky and endearing testament to his generous spirit. He also was a "Candy Crush world champion" according to him.
William was born into a loving family, son of the late Stanley and Leah Bonsky, and brother to the late Ben Bonsky. He is survived by his cherished wife, Susan Bonsky; devoted children, Heather Bonsky, Melissa Baker, and Nick (Lesley) Bonsky; and treasured grandchildren Kendall, Cameron, Zachary, Eli, Paxton, and Ashleigh. He also leaves behind his beloved sisters Beth, Becky, Barb, Bonnie, and Brenda. His family was, without question, the heart of his world, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
A visitation will be held at RG & GR Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Services, located at 15451 Farmington Rd, Livonia, MI 48154, on April 26, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Further visitation will take place at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 30900 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152, on April 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM.
William lived a life filled with love, laughter, rhythm, and a generous spirit. He touched the lives of many and will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him. May his soul rest gently, drumbeats echoing softly in the heavens, and may those who loved him carry his memory forward with tenderness and joy.
