Vera A. Robinson

January 30, 1919 — October 17, 2004

Vera (Young) Robinson Vera was the second girl of six girls and one boy born to Adam Dufferin Young and Dora Annie Pearl Arnott on a farm three miles east of Cymric Saskatchewan Canada. Being raised on a farm taught all of us to attend to vegetable and fruit gardens and all the farm animals. We were all able to ride horses, milk cows, gather eggs and feed all the animals. Further, Vera assisted mother with the youngest children. Across the road from our farm was a one-room school which we all attended to grade nine. Next we went to high school in Govan, which was eight miles away. During the week we boarded in Govan. And in winter she enjoyed skating. Our father kept bees, so we always had honey for home and for our neighbors. All our family was musical. We did a lot of singing and dancing. Vera naturally played keyboards and other instruments. During the summer she and her friends spent time at Long Lake and they all became good swimmers. This is where she met Frank Robinson who later became here husband. At 19 she became a nurse in training in Hamilton Ontario. After graduating she continued to work in the hospital there. She and Frank Robinson married in the same year that our father died. They first lived in Hamilton and later moved to Detroit. Larry and Marvin were born and raised in this area. Vera worked part-time while they grew up then she went on full time in charge of a floor at a Detroit hospital. Frank became ill and Vera took care of him. It was a very sad time for Vera and the boys when he died. Vera joined and volunteered in many community programs and was very supportive to programs in her church. She traveled to other countries and brought us back marvelous photos. In the last decade she and her friend Roy have found lots of enjoyment in the various dance programs. She got together with here sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren in Livonia and in Texas and in turn they visited her frequently. Vera was predeceased by her father and mother, her husband Frank, her sisters Doris Kinkley, Beth Gadsden, nephew Dale Young and two brothers-in-law Frank Kinkley and Bill Milburn. Funeral Home: R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Services 15451 Farmington Rd. Livonia, MI US 48154
