Sharon G. Converse

July 28, 1945 — August 24, 2025

Northville

Sharon Gail Converse, 80, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, surrounded by family at her home in Northville, Michigan. She is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, fully healed, with her eyesight restored, and free from cancer.

Sharon was born on July 28, 1945, to Harvey and Louella Sheets in Breckenridge, Minnesota. She attended North Dakota State School of Science, where she earned her associate degree in accounting and met the love of her life, Dale Warren Converse, at First Baptist Church of Breckenridge. They were married on August 6, 1966.

Before moving from Montana to Michigan, Dale and Sharon loved the outdoors and were avid deer and elk hunters, fishermen, skiers (both snow and water), and motorcycle trail riders. They raised their family in Livonia, Michigan, where Sharon was deeply involved in missions as the coordinator and led the Awana program at Calvary Baptist Church in Canton for 32 years. Sharon had a true heart for the Lord, and everyone who walked through her door felt like family.

Dale and Sharon continued their love for the outdoors through fishing on Lake Erie and Lake Michigan. Sharon was often at the helm, steering the boat with confidence, but she did far more than that, she reeled in fish herself, and she delighted in entertaining and feeding the friends and family who joined them on the water. Many shared unforgettable memories of “catching the big one” with Sharon at the wheel and her laughter carrying across the waves.

She was known for her radiant smile, fun-loving spirit, and fierce love for her family and friends, expressed through her servant’s heart, whether cooking, cleaning, hosting parties, or cheering on her grandkids at performances and hockey games. Sharon was a faithful prayer warrior, dedicating herself to studying Scripture through Bible Study Fellowship and sharing her love for Jesus through prison ministry, where she faithfully visited and encouraged one inmate for more than 20 years.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dale; children Christian (Michelle) Converse and Julie (Lee) Horning; grandchildren Winton (Emily) Horning, Caroline Converse, Olivia Converse, Maxwell Horning, and Gabriella Horning; and great-grandchildren Archie Horning and Olive Horning. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Jacqueline.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Brighton, with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. (9455 Hilton Rd, Brighton, MI 48114). Visitation will also be held on Thursday, August 28, from 3:00–8:00 p.m. at RG & GR Harris Funeral Home (15451 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI 48154).

The family takes comfort in knowing that Sharon is with her Savior, rejoicing in eternal life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Focus on the Family or BSF Global Impact Corporation, organizations dear to her heart.
