Roger Lowell Campbell, 81 of Livonia, MI. Formally of West Branch, MI, passed away on October 8th, in Livonia. He was with his three children, Pete, Carolyn and Ericka.

Born on December 12th, 1944 in Brisbane, Australia to parents Noela Cox and Lowell Campbell, Roger was a war baby. His father Lowell, was serving in the Pacific Theater with the US Army during World War II when he met Noela. Noela’s father ran a very successful clothing business in Australia that manufactured uniforms for the Australian Armed Forces. Lowell was discharged in the US, in 1945. Noela brought Roger, via cruise ship to the US to join Lowell in Detroit.

Roger was the oldest of 5 children. Lowell and Noela had Roger, his brother Richard(d), brother Denis, sister Debra and brother Glenn(d). He attended Detroit Schools and graduated from Detroit Cody High School in 1963.

During high school Roger developed a love for cars. It’s no surprise that he went on to spend 36 years working for Ford at the Livonia Transmission Plant. While at Ford he earned an Engineering Technology Degree from Henry Ford Community College. In addition to Ford, Roger had 2nd jobs working for Sears, Madias Brothers and even helped run a Corvette restoration shop. Anybody that knew Roger, knew of his passion for anything on wheels. Roger owned a wide range of motorcycles, old Corvettes and Mustangs and a few trucks. Except for Corvettes and a few AMC cars, he was a die-hard Ford man.

He had his 3 children with Mary Sunday(d). They were married from 1965-1991. While he was a busy dad, he was also a devoted dad. He coached Pete, Carolyn and Ericka on various baseball and softball teams. Roger went on to become a grandpa to Courtney, Olivia, Jacqueline, Jackie, Cale, Ava, Keegan, Christian, Koyer and Nicholas. He married Janice Draft(d) in 1991 and was an extended grandpa to Joe, Matt, Heather, James and Ian. They were married until 2023. Roger also loved woodworking and home improvement. He was always willing to teach and successfully passed on a lot of his experience to his children and grandchildren.

Roger was a member of the Masonic Temple and later pursued the Scottish Rite. A devout Christian, once he retired to West Branch, Roger followed in the footsteps of his father Lowell and sister Debra by joining the clergy for the Community of Christ church. In 2021 he moved back to Livonia to be closer to his children and attended Emmanual Lutheran church.

Roger leaves behind his children, his grandchildren, his sister Debra, his brother Denis and his companion, a Yorkie named Josie.

A Remembrance & Memorial service will be held on Oct 25th at the Detroit Moslem Shrine Temple from 4p – 7:30p. The service will include a buffet of some of Roger’s favorite foods provided by his children. The Temple is at 37987 Interchange Dr, Farmington Hills, MI 48335
