Roderick Donald Scott

Roderick D. Scott, 85 of Livonia, MI found peace on July 3rd when he reunited with Sharon, his devoted wife of 56 years, and many loved ones who went before him. Rod was a steady presence and possessed quiet strength. He lived a life of purpose, love and dedication to his family. Born in Detroit he was raised with a strong work ethic retiring from GM as a skilled pipefitter, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through years of unwavering commitment and integrity. He was the kind of person who showed up – not just to work but for the people he loved.

A proud and loving father to Marie (Jeff), Roddie, Michelle and Rick (Carey) and beloved Grandpa to his ten grandchildren, Aarica, Kelli, Collin, Nicholas, Holli, Connor, Keegan, Lane, Allison and Courtney, he will be remembered as his family’s Protector in Chief, our Captain Safety and oak tree of strength, resilience and unconditional support. Family came first to Rod. His support and care for his mother-in-law Theresa exemplified his deep sense of responsibility and compassion.

Curious by nature, with a passion learning. He loved history and had a keen eye for architecture, admiring old buildings and imagining the stories behind them. Boxing was his sport. His love of music started as a young man playing saxophone for The Midnighters. His love for travel began as a boy, exploring the U.S. with his parents Clyde, Edna and sister Sherry Jean. He later enjoyed many travel adventures with his wife Sharon. Rod cherished his faithful companions Keke, Molly and Winnie. He loved nature and found joy in watching the wildlife in his yard. Rod’s legacy of unwavering love and support, quiet strength and dedication to family will continue to inspire those he loved. His tall tales and steadfast presence will forever be missed.

A Funeral Service will be held at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia, Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
