Michael C. Furca of Redford, Age 73, passed away, surrounded by his children, on March 16, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Rebecca Furca. Loving father of Matthew Furca and Amanda (Suzie) Staley. Dear brother of Ron (Sue), Bob (Maryann), Jimmy (Patty) Furca and MaryAnn (Mark) Traficant. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mike was the son of Bruno and Fern Furca. He grew up in Detroit and was an avid sports fan from a very young age. He loved the Tigers, Red Wings, and most of all U of M football. In fact, he met his wonderful wife, Becky, at a Red Wings game in Olympia Arena. His favorite sports saying was “It’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine!” Mike proudly served his country in Vietnam. He returned home and worked as an installer for the telephone company for forty years. In his retirement, Mike worked as an usher for the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Lions, and U of M football. Mike also played hockey in an over 50 drop in league, always wearing #7. Mike was happy to rediscover his Catholic faith and loved his new church home at Our Lady of Loretto. More than anything Mike liked to spend time with his family talking sports and food or watching favorite movies and shows. Mike also loved holidays and enjoyed carrying on traditions from year to year. Mike will be missed beyond measure but we are filled with joy for him to be reunited with his wife and parents. Due to health concerns regarding COVID-19 the family has decided that a Memorial Visitation and Service will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Neutral Zone Teen Center, 310 E. Washington St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104 (www.Neutral-Zone.org.) Please share a memory of Mike on his Tribute Wall.
