Michael Anthony Formosa

Michael Anthony Formosa, 51, passed away on July 27, 2026.

Born on January 31, 1975, to Emanuel and Mikielina Formosa, Michael was a beloved son, brother, and uncle whose life was defined not simply by what he did, but by the relationships he shared with those who knew and loved him.

From an early age, Michael had a vivid imagination and curious mind. As a child he could spend hours inventing stories, reading, immersed in video games, or out on the tennis court. As he grew older, he naturally took on the role of protective older brother – sometimes whether his younger sister wanted him to or not. That instinct to look out for his family remained an important part of who Michael was throughout his life.

Michael valued learning and education. He earned a Culinary Arts degree from Schoolcraft College and later a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Business through the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University. His intelligence, curiosity, and unique way of looking at the world were evident to those who knew him best.

Perhaps one of Michael’s most meaningful roles was simply being Uncle Michael to Anna and Thomas. He treasured the time he spent with them, and their silly stories and humor could always bring a smile to his face. The memories they made together will remain a special part of his legacy.

Michael is survived by his father, Emanuel Formosa; his sister, Julie (Mark) Trzeciak; and his niece and nephew Anna and Thomas. He was preceded in death by his mother Mikielina Formosa and his grandparents, Anthony and Clara Formosa and John and Julia Demicoli.

A funeral mass celebrating Michael’s life will be held on August 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. (Visitation starting at 9:30 AM) at Divine Child Catholic Church, 1055 Silvery Lane, Dearborn, MI 48128, followed by a luncheon.

Those who knew Michael are invited to remember him not only for the milestones of his life, but for the countless smaller moments - the stories, laughter, conversations, and memories that made Michael uniquely himself and that will continue to live on in the people who loved him.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that donations be made in Michael’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
