Mary Wludyka

Mary Margaret Wludyka, 62 of Westland, Michigan, passed away on April 11, 2024.  Born on November 21, 1961, in Redford, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Johnson.  She is survived by her devoted and caring husband of 43 years, Mark, sisters Kathleen Beauman, Jeanne Fricke, Jennifer Smith, brother Daniel Johnson and a number of nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her loving children, son Cameron Wludyka and daughter Allyson Ernest, daughter-in-law Malarie Wludyka and son-in-law Michael Ernest. Her two grandchildren, Hudson Ernest and Selah Ernest, were the apples of her eye.

Mary loved cold and snowy days and was truly at home in Ludington, MI.  With Christmas as her favorite holiday, the weather provided an excellent backdrop.  Mary was an avid crossword puzzler and a frequent viewer of the Hallmark Channel, cooking shows, and she never missed an episode of Survivor.

Following her retirement as an Office Manager with the Diversion Program in Westland, MI, she decided to start her own business and developed “Mary Margaret’s Shortbread”, based on her Scottish grandmother’s shortbread cookie recipe. She was an astute businesswoman never missing an opportunity to promote her product.  She would frequently bring shortbread samples to appointments, church, shopping, or related encounters and encourage potential buyers to try her delicacies.  This proved to be a very successful strategy that always ended up generating sales.

Mary and Mark were long-term members of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Livonia, MI.  They were both active with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. They were also among the first ones to volunteer to serve parishioners during a variety of church related activities.

Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on April 24th 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 14175 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI 48154. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Gleaners Community Food Bank.
