Martin Lee Woodford, “Marty” was born Dec. 19th, 1963 to parents Fred and MaryAnn Woodford. Raised in Detroit with 5 siblings, Bob, Margie, Rita, Fred and Jeanne. No siblings could be closer than this “Six pack”, spending summers together in Camp Dearborn, building Igloos with our dad while sledding, water plane rides in Houghton Lake, terrorizing the neighborhood with friends and weekends at Grandma’s hanging with our cousins. Later in life, Marty married Barb Stark and was blessed to have such a wonderful family with step-daughters, Natalie and Leslie. Together Barb and Marty enjoyed making each other laugh, both having a great sense of humor. He was a “Jack of all trades, Master of none” Marty worked for Meteor for many years, then for Habitat for Humanity, a job he loved! He enjoyed helping the homeless and did often. Struggling with alcoholism himself, he had real compassion for people on the street. He would always tell me that just because someone is homeless, doesn’t make them heartless. He also helped our family care for our Mother, showing her compassion and kindness. Marty will be missed around the campfires where the family all enjoy singing together, He also loved to dance, anytime, anywhere. No matter where Marty went, he always made friends with everyone. Marty loved deeply, seeing the world through childlike eyes, reaching out to people, giving of himself freely, never expecting anything in return. The humblest of souls. You will be missed brother, husband, Uncle and friend. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the R.G.& G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia, May 14 from 11:00 AM until the Memorial Service at 3:00 PM. Please bring a new blanket in honor of Marty and the family is going to donate to the homeless. A Luncheon will follow after the Memorial Service at Mama Mia's, 27770 Plymouth Rd, Livonia.
