Obituary: Manuel "Manny" Pollack (1930–2026)
Manuel Pollack, a longtime resident of Livonia, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at the age of 96.
Born in Central Detroit in 1930, Manny grew up as the seventh of nine children during the Great Depression. As a teenager, he met the love of his life, Audrey Servis. They wed in February 1951 and built a beautiful life together in Livonia, raising a family of seven children.
Manny was a proud member of the Teamsters, dedicating 40 years to a career as a delivery driver. Whether delivering uniforms, rugs, or household essentials, he loved his work, finding his greatest joy in the daily interactions with the people on his route.
Tragedy struck in 1969 when he lost his beloved Audrey to cancer after 18 years of marriage. With immense strength, love, and devotion, Manny stepped up to raise their seven children as a single father, becoming the steady, unshakeable bedrock of the entire Pollack family.
In his retirement, Manny became a fixture in the local community. He was a dedicated member of the Livonia Rec Center, where he rarely missed a day on the treadmill and befriended so many that he earned the affectionate nickname, “The Mayor of Livonia.” In later years, he transitioned his daily exercise to walking at Laurel Park Mall, where he never missed an opportunity to stroll and share a conversation with passers-by.
Manny leaves behind a vast and loving legacy, including his children: David Pollack, Debbie (Mynoe Weitecha) Mulder, Susan (Dave) Thomas, Sandy (Yogi) Luck, Gary (Annette) Pollack, Scott (Lisa) Pollack, and Kenny (Kelly) Pollack; along with 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many others who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey.
A private interment will be held at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
