Kenneth Richard Vanbuskirk, 61, passed away at his home in Brighton, MI on September 1, 2021 surrounded by family and friends. Known by friends as Brissels, Ken was a beloved father, son, brother, and friend to the many people who knew him throughout his life of travels. Ken was born in Renton, WA on September 4, 1959 where he spent his childhood and young adult life enjoying time outdoors as well as many trips to Eastern Washington with his family and grandparents. In 1973, Ken’s family relocated to Michigan where he attended Cherry Hill High School in Inkster, MI. As a freshman in a new school, he made friends quickly adjusting to the new surroundings. He was a good student and enjoyed spending time in the machine shop. After graduation he followed his dreams and worked in many high-level machine shops manufacturing metal parts and equipment to be used by various manufactures. He was an avid Detroit sports fan, attending many downtown Detroit sporting events including Tigers games Later in life Ken moved to Brighton, MI where he spent time relaxing and ice fishing on the lake by his home. He would travel to Florida most holidays to spend time with his family and friends outdoors: camping, boating, golfing, and deep-sea fishing in the Atlantic Ocean. Ken would return from a fishing trip with a nice red sunburn and a big smile. Ken’s survivors include his mother Molly Vanbuskirk, brother Ron Vanbuskirk (Corinn), sister Laurie Romance (Dan), son Matthew Vanbuskirk, adult child Anastasia Rogers, and stepdaughter Sabrina Rogers (Fadi), Two step-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, as well as many good friends. Ken was preceded by the death of his father Richard Sleeman and stepfather Rod Vanbuskirk.
