On the 2nd day of February in the year 1981, a tiny bundle of joy was born to Major and Janice Smith. She was affectionately named Kelly De'Nean Smith. She was the second of five children. Kelly was educated in the Detroit Public School System. She was an Honor student from elementary school through High School. She was student of the month at Bellevue Elementary School, a member of the National Junior Honor Society at Columbus Middle School, a member of the Debate Team and Latin Club at Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School where she was a member of Delta Sigma PI Fraternity and FSU Gospel Choir. She also served in the Unted States Army National Guard, where she was a member of Jag Core, she received an honorable discharge in 2003. She also mentored to the youth in the community as a member of Save Our Teens. Kelly accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Greater St. Stephen M.B.C. where she was Baptized by Pastor Larry Robinson. She loved music and played the violin and viola in school and became a member of the Yound Adult and Mass Choirs at Greater St. Stephen where she served until becoming ill. In addition to her immediate household, Kelly was fondly cared for by her grandfather, Nathaniel Irwin (who preceded her in death) and her grandmother, Hattie Irwin who showered her with love. Early Friday morning on the 21st day of October 2005, a Heavenly host of Angels surrounded our beloved Kelly and escorted her home assuring her "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." Kelly leaves to cherish her dear fond memories, her loving father, Major J. Smith III; her devoted and loving mother and step father, Janice and Alonzo Tolefree, Jr., three sisters, Shellie, Jessica and Danisha, one brother, Major Je'Ron, one niece and nephew, Amina and Dejuan Jr., grandparents, Hattie Irwin, Major and Verneice Smith and Alonzo Sr and Bessie Tolefree, eight aunts and seven ucles, Teresa (Rev.
