Joy M. Daniels

Joy Smith Daniels, W. Bloomfield, age 77, July 7, 2010. Joy was born December 12, 1932 and raised in Detroit. She met her beloved husband, the late Charles ("Charlie") Daniels, when he was playing the organ at their church. The two were married in September of 1954, shortly after she graduated from Michigan State College. Joy and Charlie raised their family in Livonia, Huntington Woods and Northville. She loved to play cards and laugh with her friends, and had a soft spot for animals. The highlight of her summers was the annual family trip "out East" to visit relatives in New England. She moved to Regent Street Assisted Living Community, maintaining her sense of humor even as her health declined. Joy and Charlie enjoyed the arts and attended performances at the Fisher Theater, as well as venues in New York and London. Both accomplished pianists, their home was filled with music. This love of music and acting led Joy to sing in the choir for 40 years and perform in numerous plays with the Poverty Players at her church. Joy is survived by her beloved children, Linda (John) Brown, Peter (Irene) and Robert (Anne) and her grandchildren, Nathan, Stephen, Sarah, Ellen and Sherman the dog. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 17, at 11:00 AM at North Congregational Church in Farmington Hills. Donations in her name may be made to the North Congregational Church Music Fund.
