Josephine Smith

Josephine W. Smith "Josie" of Livonia, age 94, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Harold Smith. Loving mother of Bridget (Mitch) Gross, Stephanie (Brian) Mitchell and Noel (Thomas) Luersman. Dearest grandmother of Rena, Jami, Ashley and Shane. Great grandmother of Jordan, Gabe, Nora, Jersey, Braelynn and Josie.

Josie was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Countless family and friends can attest to the wonderful memories and bonds that were made in her 94 years. Josie always stayed upbeat and full of spirit. She told many stories and was always full of jokes and life all the way up until the end. She loved to play games with her children, grandchildren, and friends in her pastimes. Traveling the USA and world was one of her favorite hobbies. Her family and friends enjoyed receiving postcards from the places she had been. Josie was an active volunteer in her community, including the Senior Center, City Hall, Food Commodities, The Clothing Depot, Housing Commission, Silver Village, Girl Scouts, and with Special Education students. Josie passed on the annual Livonia Spree Pancake Breakfast, which was a decades long tradition for Josie and her family and will always be remembered as a loving and fun memory.

A visitation will be held at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia, Monday, July 7, 2025 from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM.
