James (Jim) Marietti 71, of Livonia, former resident of Dearborn, died peacefully on November 6, 2014. Jim was a beloved husband, generous dad of eight, devoted grandpa of ten and anticipating the eleventh. Jim is also survived by four siblings as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Jim was son of the late Peter and Clara Marietti and brother of the late Robert and Peter Marietti. Jim worked at the United States Postal Service, Detroit BMC for many years until his retirement in 2008. He was a supervisor, colleague and friend. Jim had many loves in his life in addition to his family and friends. He loved to travel to Tennessee as well as throughout the U.S. Even though Jim couldn't remember the words or hold a tune very well, he loved singing to his favorite songs while driving or relaxing in a chair. His love for hiking grew to taking pictures of fall colors and sunsets as Fall was without a doubt his favorite season. Fall may have also been his favorite season as this was when new TV shows aired that he enjoyed watching. Jim loved reading or falling asleep as he was reading which he often did. He enjoyed playing cards, mainly Euchre, with his family and friends. Jim was always interested in the latest and greatest electronic devices and gadgets whether it be a laptop, phone, reader, pocket knife or simply a super powerful flashlight. Jim will be missed by many as he was so dearly loved by those who knew him. Family is requesting, in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Food for the Poor or Felician Sisters Retirement Fund. Envelopes are available at the Funeral Home. There will also be cards available at the funeral home to share any memories, cherished moments or thoughts you may have of Jim for his family.
