Irvin Parker Boynton

March 27, 1937 — January 3, 2026

Novi

In Loving Memory of Irvin Parker Boynton, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Faithful Servant. With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate his life. It began on 3/27/1937 in Chicago, IL and peacefully ended on 1/3/2026 in his 88th year in Novi, MI, surrounded by family and angels.

He was the 2nd son of Ben Lynn Boynton and Elizabeth Katterjohn and will be joined first with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, then his parents, his wife Alyce Boynton (2020) and brother Lynn Boynton (2025). He was the proud father of 5 children – Gregory Boynton, Cathy (Michael) Black, Julie (Lonnie) Keys, Michael (Shelly) Boynton and Jonathan Boynton. He also leaves 10 grandchildren: Corrie Smith, Kellie (Rhett) Kopp, PA, Lisa (Joshua Bench) Kruse PhD, Michael Kruse; Emily, Madeline, Ceciley and Lydia Boynton; Parker and Keeley Boynton and 5 great grandchildren: Logan, Connor and Silas Smith, Reo Kopp and Violet Bench. He is survived by his sisters Sylvia Boynton (McGuire) and Teena Boynton (Gagne) and brother Melbourne Boynton.

He had character and was a character and was completely devoted to his family and friends. He was deeply respected by all who knew him – he knew all their names and gave cheerful greetings to all. He was a Special Education teacher for Walled Lake Schools and later Administrator for SW Oakland Vocational Education Center. He faced life’s challenges with strength, grace, compassion, fairness and unwavering faith. His faith wasn’t just spoken—it was lived. The scriptures he shared daily were more than verses; they were a lasting legacy left for his siblings, children and grandchildren. His example reminds us of what truly matters: showing love, living with integrity, and passing on the faith. He will be missed so much by so many!

A private family viewing will be held at Harris Funeral Home in Livonia, MI on Wednesday, January 7th from 10-11am, the public viewing from 11-12pm, and a memorial service there at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Fox Run Scholarship Fund or The Hilltop Church of the Nazarene in Novi, MI.
