Dorothy Luter was born Dorothy Segraves on January 3, 1916 in Biggers, Arkansas. She was the last survivor of 13 children. Dorothy married Oliver Wendell Luter on July 6, 1940. They had three children: Anita Faun Sciatto, Don Oliver Luter (Becky), and Terri Lee Luter (Robert Maddaford). Don died of cancer February 16, 1979. O. W. died October 1, 1989. Dorothy had seven grandchildren: Brian Don Sciatto (Sheri), Cindy Lee Prusa (Warren), Frank Kevin Sciatto, Sean Michael Sciatto (Melissa), Scott David Sciatto, Mark Wendell Sciatto, and Megan Luter Maddaford Hansen (Daniel). Dorothy also had twelve great grandchildren: Nicole Lea, Alycia Lynn and Ryan Don Sciatto; Mindy Lee and Jaclyn Anita Herford; Deena Lorain Tremblay (Mark) and Elizabeth Rose Sciatto; Thomas Christopher and Jessica Michelle Sciatto; Alexys and Hunter Sciatto; Logan Edward Hansen. She had 1 great great grandson, Nathan Alexander Tremblay who died at 5 months. Dorothy attended Merriman Rd. Baptist Church for over 30 years. She loved to read and do needle work until her eyesight gave out on her. Many friends and family will treasure her handmade personalized Christmas stockings. She could still work jigsaw puzzles and do word search puzzles. Until Dorothy moved from Detroit, she did her own yard work and planted a garden every year. She took care of her neighbors, making soup and baking cookies and cakes. Dorothy moved to Westland in 2005. She continued to take care of others, whether it was baking cakes and cookies or just lending a listening ear. She was always a joy to be around. She rarely met a stranger and could talk to anyone. Dorothy loved children and they loved her. Whether she was Mom, Mother, Grandma or Great-Grandma she always stood by each of us. Not only in all our life changing events, but in our casual moments as well. She loved spending time with everyone, especially her family. Her support and caring was never ending. Dorothy was kind and loving. She taught us all that laughter is the best medicine. We all loved her sense of humor and laughter. She lived a full and fulfilling life. Dorothy went home to be with Lord on November 1, 2013. She will be missed by one and all, especially her family. http://www.tributeslides.com/videos/embedded_video/NG8GMHM5GT4D2YKF Funeral Home: R.G. & G.R.
