Donald Drake VanNispen Donald Drake VanNispen of Garden City, passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2023. Donald was born February 18, 1964 to Donald and Dorothy (Sundstrom) VanNispen in Duluth, MN. He graduated from Denfield High school in 1983 and moved to Michigan in 1985. Don previously worked for Towers Management and for the past 18 years worked for American Appliance Heating and Cooling in Livonia, MI. Don could fix almost anything. Family, friends and neighbors would all come to him for advice when it came to fixing or buying a washer, furnace, refrigerator, etc. He was a kind, funny and just all around good guy. Most important to Don was his family. He is survived by his wife Ruth, son Donald VanNispen (Cortnee) of Garden City; daughter Kellee Irish (Barak) of Garden City; son Alex Irish (Samantha) of Battle Creek; granddaughters Zoey, Nellie, Kinzlee, Amelia and Charlotte; mother Dorothy Anderson of Cloquet, MN; brother Randy (Nancy) VanNispen of Westland; sisters Cindy (Bruce) Laurila of Hermantown, MN and Penny (Jim) Kult of Esko, MN and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his father Donald VanNispen and his brother Terry VanNispen. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at St Mary’s Cultural Center, 18100 Merriman Rd, Livonia, MI 48152 starting at 12:00 noon.
