Carroll Ellen Wheeker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on May 24th at the age of 94. Carroll was born in 1930 to her parents George and Wilhelmina Lindbloom, in Battle Creek, Michigan. They moved to Farmington and Carroll’s father passed away when she was just three years old. Carroll, along with her mother and brother George, continued to live in the house built by her father until her early adult years. Carroll went to Farmington High School where she played drums in the marching band. After graduating she obtained a job at Detroit Edison in the secretarial pool where she met the love of her life, Bob Wheeker, a young and handsome architectural draftsman.
Bob and Carroll were joined together in marriage in September of 1954. The following year they built a house in Livonia, Michigan where they happily resided for 69 years. They proceeded to have 70 happy years of married life together, never wanting to be long out of the other’s sight. Carroll was preceded in death by her husband Bob on May 21st. Carroll is survived by her three children: Janet Marshall (Rick), Joanne Mancini (Gary) and Brian Wheeker (Lani). She has five grandchildren; Brandon Mancini (Alicia), Amanda Frayne (Chris), Kelly Marshall (Kelsey), Jeffrey Wheeker and Sarah Marshall and four great-grandchildren; Colton Mancini, Adalyn Frayne, Everleigh Mancini and Riley Frayne. Carroll also has numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Carroll was a wonderful homemaker who loved raising their family. She very much enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, entertaining and vacationing. Her baked goods were both delicious and eye appealing. She was known to drop off something sweet as an act of kindness and appreciation to all those she cared for and who cared for her. She passed on many of her recipes and her flair for entertainment to her daughters and grand daughters. A “made especially for you” sweet, along with her beautiful smile, brightened the life of many throughout the years. She was a good friend, loyal partner and loving parent who will be missed dearly.
Carroll and Bob’s desire to be together, both in life and death, was honored by our Lord when Carroll passed just three days after Bob. We know they are now happily dancing in Heaven.
