Arnold Allen Krawcke, loving husband, father, and grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, died Tuesday, July 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 85. He was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Detroit to Alex Krawcke and Helen (Papp) Krawcke. Arnold was a caring man devoted to his family. He never met a stranger, and enjoyed talking to anyone and everyone about random facts and history.
Arnold loved celebrating family birthdays and holidays, visiting Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum, antique cars, muskrat dinners, playing the Michigan Lottery with his “money numbers,” and trying his luck with scratch off lottery tickets. He also enjoyed gardening, a glass or two of Slivovitz plum brandy, playing Bingo and the card game, 31, with family and friends, and watching, “Wheel of Fortune.”
Arnold spent over 20 years working at Anchor Conveyor before the company closed its doors, and he continued working at several other firms before his retirement. His strong love and faith in God never waivered, even as his health did.
Arnold was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Virginia Sue Krawcke. He is survived by his children, Arnold (predeceased by Sandi) Krawcke, Tracy (Fred) Songalewski, and Krista (Chris) Cojocar; grandchildren, Matthew (Nicole) Krawcke, Angela Blackwell, Karli Songalewski, Sara Songalewski, Kayla (Bryan) Schoenherr, Megan (Myron) Hall, Brenton Krawcke, and Kevin Krawcke; great-grandchildren, Mason and Morgan Hall and Claire and Maggie Blackwell; siblings, Steven (predeceased by Catherine) Krawcke (and Nancy Eluskie), Sandra (predeceased by Jerry) Ruggles, Veronica (predeceased by Jim) Berryman; grand-dogs, Otis, Winston, and Walter; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held at RG & GR Harris Funeral Home on Monday, July 28, from 12-8 p.m., with funeral services taking place on Tuesday, July 29, at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest following at Mount Hope Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
His sage advice will be remembered forever among his family to: “Walk slow and drink a lot of water.”
