Andrew H. Kirkland, 47, passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2013 of heart complications. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Kimberly A. Kirkland (Sayre), beautiful daughter Jessica A. Duckham (Kirkland), respected son-in-law Griffen Duckham, caring sister Martha (Kirkland) Strahle, Bryan Strahle, Kelsey McGovern, Patrick McGovern, Margaret (Kirkland) Labar, Kevin Labar, Marie Kreger, Jon Kreger, Jacob Kreger, Ronald Sayre, Sharon Whiteford, Michael and Robin Duckham, Stefani Smith and many other family and friends. Andy was the most incredible man, devoted husband and caring father. He enjoyed traveling, being outdoors and reading about history. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and supporting them in every way possible. Andy proudly served his country. His military career (1988-1991) was spent as a soldier of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg. He was deployed during Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield in 1990. His positions in the military included: Acting NCO Chemical Operations Specialist, Medium-Range Reconnaissance and Scout for the 1st Squadron 17th Cavalry and Decontamination Acting NCOIC for the 1st Squadron 17th Cavalry. Andy earned numerous awards for his honor and commitment in the military. Andy was a dedicated and valued employee with Michigan Dairy for nearly 30 years. He started there at age 18 and worked very hard to achieve his final position as Regulatory Compliance and Training Officer. He enjoyed working with his Michigan Dairy colleagues and considered them his extended family. As with his military service, Andy was recognized with many awards throughout his long career. Andy passed through this lifetime too quickly. Although his passing was immediate and unexpected, he left his family with them knowing how much he loved them and him knowing how much he was loved by them. He passed away doing something he enjoyed - exploring the outdoors. He was on the most beautiful and peaceful trail at West Ten Sleep Lake, Wyoming. It was very scenic next to a calm stream and a field of purple flowers. Andy will forever be missed and remembered as the most incredible person who saw the best in everyone.
