Allan J. Scruggs passed away in his sleep on Wednesday July 22, 2020. Allan was proceeded in death by his Mother (Virginia) and Father (Frank) as well as his brothers David, Frank and wife Lenora Scruggs. He is survived by his love and partner Sue Brunette, his children Bradley (Jil) Micallef, Michael (Anne) Scruggs, his sisters Debbie (Jim) Prunkard, Mary Louis (Tom) Costigan, his brother Donald (Vicki) Scruggs as well as surrogate family members Dan (Amanda) Brunette, Larry (Kathy) Jubenville, Kenny (Angie) Brunette, Jim Brunette, Jodi (Floyd) Baker, and Christopher Brunette. Allan has numerous grandchildren, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews that he adored and loved dearly. Allan was born in Detroit on June 12, 1944. He began his adventures in the Peace Corps by way of India from 1967-1969. Allan then went on to attend the Michigan State University to study nursing and eventually became a nurse anesthetist. For the majority of his career, he worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor as a registered CRNA where he formed great friendships. Allan excelled in his profession and was an outspoken advocate for his patients and their well-being. Allan’s love for his work was surpassed only by his love and generosity for family and those he cared about. Allan was a voracious reader which helped feed hia varied interests that included history, politics, engineering, chemistry. Watching Jeopardy with Allan could be an aggravating experience. Allan’s adventures in life were shared with his loved ones. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. The family would like to recognize his primary care physicians Dr. Jean Scholl and Dr. Chad Kruger for their care and consideration over many years of service. A Visitation will be held at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home in Livonia, 15451 Farmington Rd, Livonia on Saturday July 25 from 2-4PM. The family recognizes and regrets such a small window for visitation but they wish to protect their loved ones from the dangers that the current COVID-19 pandemic present. They request that no food or drinks be provided and that physical interaction be limited while social distancing is observed. Those who are immune compromised or have contact with vulnerable people are discouraged from attending Saturday’s service. Masks are required.
