Obituary for Dorothy Prusinski

Dorothy (Smith) Prusinski
January 5, 1923 – May 11, 2019

Beautiful Dorothy, 96, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 11, 2019 to her new home in heaven with her Lord and Savior.

Born in East Pittsburgh, PA she was the fourth daughter to the late Michael and Margaret (Kovczun) Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alfred J. Prusinski who died in 1969, son Alfred S. Prusinski, daughter Patricia (Prusinski) Ratke, son-in-law Alexander Ratke, grandson Eric Prusinski, as well as 5 sisters and 3 brothers.

Dorothy lived a life of faith and service to her Lord Jesus and began and ended every day with Him. She joyfully and tirelessly spent majority of her life caring for her family, serving in her church, and supporting various, close to her heart, charities. Dorothy prayed endlessly for her family. She was also known to leave pamphlets and tracts at various places in order to share the good news of Christ with others. She worked for and retired from AAA of Michigan. She enjoyed crocheting blankets for both family members and veterans in wheelchairs.

Although her death brings an end to her life here on earth, Dorothy left a legacy of love etched on the heart of every person who had the pleasure of knowing her. There were no strangers – only friends.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Jean (Roland) Brown, sister-in-law Lin Smith, daughter-in-law Cathy Prusinski, grandchildren Kim (Marshall) Lane, Theresa (Brad) Treglowne, Joe (Jenny) Ratke, Dan (Amanda) Ratke, Jason Prusinski, Sara (Paul) Prusinski, and Phil Prusinski. Dorothy is also survived by 9 Great Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who cherished her.
